ipCD – Endocrine - Biochemistry, Secretion and Transport of Hormones

Benjamin Cummings. InterActive Physiology® 8-System Suite CD-ROM, Benjamin Cummings, 2004.

(if you have the 7-System CD, log on to www.interactivephysiology.com)

Objective:

To describe in short essay or with diagrams the major classes and properties of hormones, the synthesis and release of hormones, and the control of hormone secretion, at the level of 85% proficiency for each student.

In order to achieve this objective, you will need to be able to:

  1. Describe the chemical classes and solubility properties of hormones.
  2. Describe the synthesis of an example from each class of hormone.
  3. Explain how the secretion of hormones depends on release and/or synthesis.
  4. Explain how neural, hormonal or humoral signals control the secretion of hormones.
